Strengthening Historically Black Universities
and Universities Program (HBCUs)
The Title III Project at Huston-Tillotson University includes seven (7) pre-planned activities designed to establish and strengthen the University’s physical plant, financial management, academic resources, endowment, and student services. These activities which are funded by the U.S. Department of Education, consists of a variety of strategies that are being used to continue developing/revising academic areas, providing incentives for professional development, assisting faculty members in completing requirements for doctoral degrees, strengthening administrative management operations, improving student services programs that are designed to improve academic performance, purchasing equipment, and enhancing instructional media capabilities.
Title III continues to be a catalyst for institutional change and development. The University has been successful in its efforts to upgrade the curriculum and management capabilities. These efforts have not gone without difficulties. Plagued by such problems as staff turnover in key positions and the need for additional faculty in several areas, the University nevertheless has retained its forward development thrust. Huston-Tillotson University has entered a maintenance and refinement stage of organizational change.
The Title III Project continues to support and strengthen areas of need and thereby better assist the University in serving its student population.
The Coordinator of the Title III Project, Mrs. Ora B. Wilson, has administered the program for 20+ years. Her office is located in the A-L Building, Room 206, on the Campus of Huston-Tillotson University.
